A 'Hare Raising' event
Eileen is holding her first solo exhibition of water colours for four years, with a host of new paintings on show. Entitled a ‘Hare Raising Event’ the exhibition of all new watercolours will feature many of Eileen’s sensitive depictions of the native Brown Hare. Eileen has studied and researched hares for over twenty years and travels far and wide to obtain observations of these elusive creatures. She has a few surprises in store as she has recorded, in art, some of the unusual aspects and activities of the hare’s life. She has also included unusual paintings of rare breed cattle, sheep and poultry. |
The exhibition will be held at the splendid location of Christ Church Parish Church, Church Street, Holloway, Nr Matlock. DE4 5JP, next to the school, and runs from 1 pm – 5 pm on Saturday 24th November 2018. There is an Art Show Preview on the previous evening from 6pm – 8 pm. Please RSVP for the Preview by email or by phone for catering purposes

New Images Added April 2011
Eileen has added new images to the website and there are more to come soon. Make sure to visit the website on a regular basis
Visit to Islay and Jura
This summer Eileen spent two weeks on the Isle of Islay and Jura sketching and observing the native wildlife there. She spent many happy hours sketching the native brown hares which live on the island. They are much tamer than the ones in England and she was able to sit really close to them while they were getting on with life.
There is an abundance of wildlife on Islay and as it was the breeding season it proved to be an amazing experience watching birds such as curlews and lapwings protecting their young. Arctic Terns put on wonderful acrobatics on the seashore where they had nests among the tall grasses, and oyster catches defied anyone to come near to their young families.
Although Eileen really wanted to find otters there was none to be found by her even though their presence had been observed many times by other people - just bad luck! A group of kayakers on the homeward bound ferry had been within 10 feet of a pair of fighting otters. So close they had even seen their teeth!
Later in the year Eileen will be showing original paintings produced as a result of this wonderful visit to Islay and other original work which she has produced over recent months. If you are interested in seeing this then please contact Eileen by telephone to find out more details.
Organza Satin Greetings Cards
Eileen also creates images using organza satin over-painted with vibrant inks. These are usually in the form of butterflies, dragonflies and oriental birds. These are also made into greeting cards and over three thousand have been sold over the last few years.
